Make this rich and creamy white hot chocolate at home. This simple recipe uses real white chocolate for a silky smooth texture, offering a comforting warm beverage better than store-bought mixes, ready in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 6 ounces good quality white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into a medium saucepan. Heat the milk over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges, but do not let it boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low. Add the finely chopped white chocolate to the warm milk.
  3. Let the chocolate sit for one minute to soften, then whisk constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and the pinch of salt. Continue to heat gently for another minute, whisking occasionally, until the drink is hot throughout. Do not boil.
  5. Pour the creamy white hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.

Notes

  • Use white chocolate bars or high-quality white chocolate chips for the best flavor and smoothest texture. Avoid using white baking wafers, as they may not melt as smoothly.
  • For a richer, more indulgent drink, substitute half of the milk with heavy cream.
  • If the drink seems too thick, add a splash more milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
