Make this creamy, refreshing Korean strawberry milk at home using a simple fresh strawberry syrup. This cafe-style pink drink is quick to prepare and perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup milk (whole, 2%, or dairy-free alternative like oat milk)
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry syrup: Combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften, about 8 to 10 minutes. The mixture will thicken slightly.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Mash the strawberries lightly with a fork or potato masher for more flavor release.
  4. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids or save them for another use. Let the syrup cool completely.
  5. Assemble the drink: Place 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cooled strawberry syrup into the bottom of a tall glass.
  6. Add ice cubes to the glass, if using.
  7. Slowly pour your choice of milk over the syrup and ice. Do not stir immediately to achieve the layered cafe look.
  8. Top with whipped cream, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free strawberry milk option, substitute regular milk with strawberry oat milk or strawberry almond milk.
  • You can prepare the strawberry syrup ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • To create a whipped strawberry milk texture, whip a small amount of heavy cream with a teaspoon of the syrup until soft peaks form before topping the drink.
