Make these soft, fluffy Strawberry Cheesecake Sweet Rolls. This recipe combines a sweet strawberry filling with a rich cheesecake swirl, all topped with a smooth cream cheese glaze for a decadent breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.2 ounces) refrigerated sweet roll dough
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Unroll the refrigerated sweet roll dough onto a clean surface. Do not separate the rolls.
  2. Make the filling: In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the unrolled dough.
  3. Spread the butter and jam: Brush the melted butter over the dough surface. Spread the strawberry jam evenly over the butter layer.
  4. Roll the dough: Starting from a long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam closed.
  5. Cut the rolls: Use unflavored dental floss or a sharp knife to cut the log into 12 equal rolls. Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  6. Prepare the cheesecake swirl: In a separate small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until you have a smooth, thick cream cheese glaze.
  7. Add the swirl: Drop small spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture randomly over the tops of the unrolled dough in the pan. Do not spread it completely.
  8. Bake the rolls: Cover the pan loosely with plastic wrap or foil and let the rolls rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Glaze and serve: Remove the rolls from the oven. While still warm, drizzle any remaining cream cheese glaze over the tops. Garnish with fresh sliced strawberries before serving.

Notes

  • For Cinnabon Style Strawberry Rolls, use a slightly thicker cream cheese layer in the filling before rolling.
  • If you prefer a stronger strawberry flavor, gently fold 1/4 cup of finely diced fresh strawberries into the jam before spreading it on the dough.
  • You can make this a low-effort weekend baking project by preparing the dough the night before and letting it rise slowly in the refrigerator.
