Make a quick, balanced dipping sauce perfect for potstickers, gyoza, or wontons using basic pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sugar in a small bowl.
  2. Whisk the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust the balance if needed (add more vinegar for tang, more sugar for sweetness).
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite dumplings.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add 1/2 teaspoon of chili garlic sauce or a dash of chili oil.
  • If you need a gluten-free option, substitute regular soy sauce with tamari or gluten-free soy sauce.
  • To make a thicker sauce for wontons, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water and stir into the sauce before heating gently until thickened.
