Make a rich, smooth chocolate fondue without complicated steps. This foolproof recipe is perfect for parties, romantic nights, or a simple dessert treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (use high-quality chocolate like Ghirardelli)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium, heat-safe bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil rapidly.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for five minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
  4. Add the butter, vanilla extract, and salt to the bowl.
  5. Whisk the mixture slowly, starting from the center and moving outward, until the fondue is completely smooth and velvety.
  6. Transfer the chocolate fondue to a small fondue pot or a slow cooker set to the lowest setting to keep warm. Stir occasionally.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • For a slight variation, substitute half of the heavy cream with evaporated milk for a slightly lighter texture.
  • If the fondue becomes too thick while serving, whisk in one teaspoon of warm milk or cream at a time until the desired consistency returns.
  • Use a variety of dippers: strawberries, banana slices, pound cake cubes, marshmallows, pretzels, and shortbread cookies.
