Ingredients
Scale
1 loaf (13-16 ounces) pre-baked French or Italian bread
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Slice the loaf of bread horizontally into rounds, cutting almost all the way through but leaving the bottom crust intact.
Slice the loaf vertically and diagonally to create a diamond pattern, again avoiding cutting through the bottom crust.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt. Mix well.
Carefully separate the bread slices slightly and drizzle the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread, making sure some gets into the cuts.
Generously sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar cheese mixtures between the slices and over the top of the loaf.
Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil.
Bake for 15 minutes wrapped in foil.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Let the cheese bread cool for 5 minutes before pulling apart and serving warm.
Notes
For a bakery-style cheese bread loaf, use a soft, unbaked dough instead of pre-baked bread and adjust baking time accordingly.
You can substitute the cheese blend with Gruyère or Monterey Jack for different melting qualities.
If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, use garlic powder mixed with the butter instead of fresh minced garlic.
