Make this quick and satisfying Dorito Casserole using ground beef, taco seasoning, and Nacho Cheese chips for a simple, cheesy family dinner or potluck dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 bag (9.75 ounces) Nacho Cheese flavored tortilla chips (Doritos)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir the taco seasoning mix and water into the beef. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the seasoning dissolves.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
  5. Crush about half of the Dorito chips slightly by hand and stir them into the meat and soup mixture.
  6. Spread half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Layer the remaining half of the meat mixture evenly over the first layer.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top layer.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven. Crush the remaining Dorito chips and sprinkle them evenly over the top of the hot casserole. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a less soggy chip texture, reserve all the chips for topping only, layering half the chips under the cheese before baking, and sprinkling the rest on top after baking.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or shredded cooked chicken for the ground beef.
  • Add 1 cup of drained canned corn or black beans to the meat mixture for extra vegetables.
  • Serve with toppings like sour cream, salsa, or sliced green onions.
