You create the ultimate comfort dessert by merging sweet, gooey cinnamon rolls with warm, spiced apple pie filling in this simple casserole bake. This recipe uses store-bought components for a quick, decadent fusion treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls, icing reserved
  • 1 can (21 ounces) pre-made apple pie filling
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional, for topping)
  • 1 package (2 count) premade pie crusts (optional, for bottom layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or pie plate.
  2. If using a bottom crust, press one premade pie crust into the bottom of your prepared dish.
  3. Open the can of cinnamon rolls. Cut each roll in half horizontally.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll each half flat until it is thin enough to cover the apple filling.
  5. Arrange the flattened cinnamon roll pieces over the bottom crust or directly into the baking dish to form a base layer.
  6. Pour the entire can of apple pie filling evenly over the cinnamon roll layer.
  7. Arrange the remaining cinnamon roll pieces on top of the apple filling. You can overlap them slightly.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cinnamon roll topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Remove the dish from the oven. While the casserole is still warm, drizzle the reserved cinnamon roll icing over the top.
  10. If you are using caramel sauce, drizzle it over the icing for extra richness.
  11. Let the casserole cool slightly before you cut and serve it warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute the canned apple pie filling with your favorite homemade apple filling.
  • If you skip the bottom crust, the bottom layer of cinnamon rolls will become very soft and gooey, resembling a cobbler texture.
  • Serve this decadent dessert warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra satisfying experience.
