Make these crowd-pleasing BBQ Chicken Sliders baked on sweet Hawaiian rolls. This recipe uses simple ingredients for juicy, flavorful sandwiches perfect for game day or a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12 count) package sweet Hawaiian rolls
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works well)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 cup shredded Gouda cheese or Pepper Jack cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken and barbecue sauce. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated.
  3. Slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the rolls connected in one piece. Place the bottom half of the rolls cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Distribute the BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken mixture.
  6. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried onion flakes. Brush this butter mixture evenly over the top of the assembled sliders.
  8. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are lightly golden brown.
  10. Carefully slice the sliders apart between the rolls. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a Honey BBQ Sliders variation, mix 2 tablespoons of honey into your barbecue sauce before tossing with the chicken.
  • Use Pepper Jack cheese for a slight kick, or Swiss cheese for a milder flavor profile.
  • If you prefer a slow cooker method, combine the shredded chicken and BBQ sauce and cook on low for 3-4 hours, then assemble and bake as directed.
