Make warm, flaky, and cheesy baked ham and cheese croissants using simple ingredients. This recipe is quick enough for a satisfying breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 store-bought croissants
  • 12 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese (or cheddar)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Slice each croissant horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves together like a hinge.
  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the inside of both the top and bottom halves of each croissant.
  4. Layer 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of cheese inside each prepared croissant. Close the croissants.
  5. Place the assembled croissants on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the poppy seeds, if using. Brush this mixture evenly over the tops of the croissants.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese inside is fully melted and gooey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use Gruyère cheese instead of Swiss.
  • You can prepare these croissants up to 4 hours ahead of time; cover them and refrigerate before baking. Add 3-5 minutes to the bake time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
  • This recipe works well for a quick weeknight dinner or a holiday brunch.
